Some days I wonder how much of social media is “social media” or “social me-too” and, more than that, does it matter when the end result is achieved? Enterprise social media counts on the me-too aspect of it and its working extraordinarily well in many cases. I guess that answers my question.
Social media is expanding across more venues, fields, disciplines, businesses, international markets, and used ever-increasingly in international relations, than anyone dreamed possible just a short time ago. It’s fascinating to watch it, design it, and see what can be done with it. But there’s another aspect to that “it” topic. With social media the “it” is fluid and can be so many things to so many people. Enterprise social media is designed with a targeted, distinct, bottom-line purpose. If you don’t get that, you don’t own it yet. Own your own media.
