Still Amazed

Today I watched my son head north in his old red Honda Civic

headed for a long weekend with

The Girlfriend

She’s cool, The Girlfriend

Funny, attractive, athletic, intelligent, sassy as hell

Made for each other – or deserve each other – depends on the day

Once I watched my dad in the rear-view mirror as I headed north in my old blue VW

headed for a long weekend in Daytona with

the girlfriend du jour

Years in-between dissolved and the son became the father

watching the son who would become the father

and the father went to exit stage left

And the father is waiting his cue to exit stage left
